Phase two of the severe wintry weather is moving across Alabama, and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued in several counties in the WSFA 12 News viewing area. Those counties are Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers and Lee counties.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. The advisories will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.

The city of Auburn has issued a travel advisory. Residents have been asked to avoid all non-essential travel overnight and in the early morning hours Thursday.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for most of the rest of the north and northeast portions of Alabama that are not in the WSFA 12 News coverage area.

Wednesday, snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible north of a line from Sulligent to Alabaster to Alexander City.

A glaze of ice will be possible mainly north of a line from Millport to Cordova to Gardendale to Sylacauga to LaFayette.
