LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely confirmed early Wednesday morning that a mother and daughter died in a house fire overnight.

The fire started around 12:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Snake Road. When volunteer firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Blakely said a man who lives in an apartment in the basement noticed smoke. When he went upstairs, he found the mother and daughter unconscious.

The man made it out, but the two women didn't. Authorities have not release the names of the victims.

There's no word yet on the cause of the fire. According to the coroner, the two bodies have been sent to forensics for identification purposes.
