PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

Prattville officials say a manhunt is over and the suspect wanted for a assaulting a police officer following a traffic stop is now in custody.

Authorities say a Prattville police officer pulled over Broderick Marquez Burt near the entrance to Holly Brooke subdivision on Calumet Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the suspect got out of his vehicle and assaulted the officer. During the fight, the officer noticed a bulge in the suspect's pocket at which point a weapon fell out, along with illegal narcotics.

Burt fled the scene and law enforcement officials searched an area of Highway 14 and Old Ridge Road. As a precaution, nearby East Memorial Christian Academy was placed on lock down. That lock down it was eventually lifted.

The officer involved in the incident is said to be ok.

Authorities are currently working to obtain warrants against Burt for assault of a police officer, a weapons charge and illegal narcotics.
