State troopers say roads are slowly clearing and becoming passable, but there are reports of ice refreezing on major and secondary roads.

The interstates are passable but have some problem areas, trooper Curtis Summerville said.

Troopers are responding to several crashes and areas covered by ice. They're urging everyone to drive with caution today.

As of 10:10 a.m., the only areas with delays are I-65 between Cullman and Blount County, I-20 at the 459 junction and I-65 from 459 to the junction.

The potent winter storm continues to wreak havoc along the East Coast and flight plans will be impacted.

THIS AFTERNOON

Mostly sunny with temperatures warming into the middle and upper 40s. Some lower 50s are possible south of I-20 towards Tuscaloosa. Sun and warmth will result in rapid melting of snow.

TONIGHT

Mainly clear and a low near freezing. Some black ice is possible but not expecting widespread icing.

FRIDAY- Happy Valentine's Day

Much warmer with highs in the upper 50s ahead of an approaching cold front that will bring rain by the late afternoon and evening hours.

THE WEEKEND

Slightly cooler but still pleasant on Saturday with lows in the lower 30s and highs in the lower 50s. Mostly sunny and great weather for the Mercedes Marathon! Warmer on Sunday with upper 30s for lows and highs in the lower 60s.

NEXT WEEK

Mild with off and on chances for showers. Highs most days in the 60s.

Have a good day and travel with caution this morning until the sun works to zap the snow. Have fun making snowmen and be sure to send your pictures to pix@wbrc.com.
