LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

State Troopers responded to a traffic situation on Interstate 65 southbound at mile marker 365 about a mile south of the Tennessee state line Thursday morning.

Witnesses said an 18-wheeler clipped a truck as the ice turned the interstate into a skating rink.

Bobby McNally is the driver supervisor for TNG. He said his driver is okay, but most of the magazines the truck was carrying are a loss. "The tractor-trailer caught him on the driver's rear. It spun him around and ripped it and threw magazines all the way up and down the road," he said.

Delivery company employees spent much of the morning picking up what was left of the product. Magazines scattered across both of I-65's southbound lanes. Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.

I-65 never shut down during the incident, but authorities reported more than a dozen trucks had difficulty climbing the tough terrain near the Alabama and Tennessee state line. Anyone traveling the interstate Thursday morning ran into major delays north and southbound between Athens and Ardmore.

Speeds did not exceed ten miles per hour in most areas, and the delays did not stop until most drivers hit Athens.
