MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A group of young women made a big donation to the Friendship Mission in Montgomery on Friday.

The group raised nearly $2,000, for the shelter, by holding a benefit concert.

"It's amazing. February is one of our slowest months, so it's a great need, and a great gift," said Lawana Hawkins, director of Friendship Mission.

"I'm very passionate about women's ministry," said Kasie Elston, one of the women who made the donation. "Helping women get out of whatever it is they need to get out of."

The Friendship Mission provides shelter and ministry to those in need within the community.
