HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Couples crowded the hall of the Madison County Courthouse on Valentine's Day, ready to get married.

On a typical Friday, the Marriage License Department sees about ten couples. By 3:30 p.m. this past Friday, the office had already seen twenty-eight couples tie the knot.

Susan Bonn and her new husband planned on getting married Thursday, but Old Man Winter's work forced them to postpone the nuptials.

"So our anniversary would have been February 13th, Valentine's Day would have been February 14th, and my birthday is February 15th," said Susan Bonn. "But weather didn't cooperate with us, so the courthouse was closed yesterday, so as fate would have it, we're getting married today on Valentine's Day."

The marriage clerk has been at the courthouse for sixteen years and said the most weddings she's seen in a day are forty.
