No injuries in emergency landing at Montgomery airport

Posted: Updated:

A small plane was rerouted from Tuskegee airport to Montgomery due to landing gear problems.

According to Mark Wnuk, Executive Assistant to the Airport Director, the airport was notified around 6:30 p.m. that a single engine private plane was having trouble with nose landing gear.

The private plane landed on the runway but the nose collapsed.

"Landing Gear on small aircraft are a troublesome area and that isn't the first time there's been a problem like this. Airport workers are ready and do practice for this situation," Wnuk said.

Fire medics were dispatched to the location as a precaution, but both pilot and passenger were able to walk from the airplane with no injuries. No flights were diverted or delayed.
