Former Bengals player arrested on domestic violence charges

SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Former Bengals defensive back Artrell Hawkins was arrested Sunday on domestic violence charges.

According to court documents, police responded to a possible domestic violence dispute at a home in Springdale, Ohio.

Hawkins' wife told police that he had kicked the basement door in and caused her to be scared for her children's safety.

In 911 audio, the father of the alleged victim says "her and her husband are getting separated. He has bashed the door down and sliced all the tires on her car. He's threatening to do harm to her and the kids."

Hawkins, who played for the Bengals for six seasons, was arrested and is expected to appear in court on Monday morning.
