The Reds and Homer Bailey are nearing an agreement on a long-term contract.
The Reds pitcher said Monday morning at spring training the two sides are "really close" on a multi-year deal.
Bailey is scheduled for arbitration meeting Thursday to decide his salary this season, but if a contract is reached before then, the hearing would be unnecessary.
