MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Tax season is already in full swing, with the IRS reporting a busy start to the 2014 filing season.

Will you use your refund check to go on vacation, a shopping spree or pay down your credit card bills? most of us are actually opting for something else.

A survey done by TD Ameritrade shows that overwhelmingly Americans plan to save their tax refunds this year.

Here's the breakdown:

61 percent will save or invest

21 percent will pay off debt

18 percent will spend on necessities

19 percent will make non-essential purchases
