COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A former children's pastor facing charges of sexual abuse and sodomy, is back in jail after his attorney waived a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning.

Jeff Eddie served as the children's pastor at Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals. He was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with multiple counts of sodomy, sexual abuse of a child and having child pornography.

According to court documents, Eddie confessed to performing sex acts on children from his church multiple times. Eddie's defense attorney Billy Underwood said he wanted to spare the community, especially those in the courtroom, from hearing graphic details of the allegations as reason for waiving the hearing.

A request to reduce bond for Eddie was also withdrawn Tuesday. Underwood said he believes additional charges may have been filed if he were to post a lower bond; Eddie's bond remains at over one million dollars.

The case has now been bound over to a grand jury.
