NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

Larry Smith's memories of his parents are those of hard working people.

"They grew up in a time when there wasn't a whole lot of money but they always found a way to provide recreation and take us places and that's a memory that I'll have," he said.

Memories his grandkids and great grandkids will know too. His parents' tombstone has a new high tech feature, a QR code that is connected to a tribute page.

"You can upload photos, write a family history, even add a video tribute," said Robert Halbooks of Memory Square.

"Pictures, news articles and obituaries get lost, but this is something that will remain," said Smith.

Halbrook said his company provides families with a way to keep family history alive.

"When you visit a grave you're not just looking at grass and a tombstone, this way you can pass on to your family the heritage of your loved one," said Halbrook.

The service is a one time fee of $125. You can find more information by visiting memorysquare.com.
