MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Alabama State Troopers and Albertville Police continue their search in Marshall County for a man who led troopers on a high-speed chase Wednesday morning.

Troopers said the incident started off as a traffic stop just north of Arab, then turned into a high-speed chase reaching speeds of approximately 100 miles per hour.

Authorities said a man in a red Chevrolet pickup truck led police to Allens Cross Road. Police said the man came out of his truck, pulling a long gun from the vehicle, and ran into the woods.

Tracking dogs and a helicopter were called out to the scene to assist in the search.

Troopers said they have an idea who the person is, but believe this incident is unrelated to another manhunt for an escaped inmate being conducted in Madison County.

"That's certainly something we looked at, because they're so close in relationship, even in terms of where they may be. But right now we don't think there's a connection with that," said Trooper Curtis Summerville.

Troopers believe the man is local and currently has felony warrants. They advise people in the area not to answer the door to someone they do not know and to call law enforcement immediately.
