BLACKSBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Blacksburg Fire Chief Cline Gore said five people were taken to the hospital, three of whom were children, following a house fire along West Carolina Street in Blacksburg.

The fire broke out at the home near the Blacksburg High School early Thursday morning.

A FOX Carolina crew on the scene talked to Gore, who said a mother and her three children were in the mobile home at the time it happened.

Neighbor Kenneth Davidson said when he noticed the fire, God told him to go and help. He tells us he and other neighbors began breaking windows around the home to help let the smoke out. Davidson says he then jumped through a back window, where he knew the kids slept.

He says he was able to pass two of the children out of the window to safety, but couldn't find the third child amongst all the smoke. Gore says fire crews used hoses to enter the room where the third child was found. Gore said the toddler was then flown to Spartanburg Regional, suffering from smoke inhalation.

Gore said Davidson injured his leg during the rescue and was taken to Spartanburg Regional for treatment. The two other children, and their mother were also taken to the hospital by ambulance. Gore said all five people are expected to be OK.

Gore said Cherokee County fire investigators are assisting in the investigation to determine what started the fire.
