BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The owner of a bail bonds company was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly shot a 21-year-old male.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department says it happened in the area of 3102 Greensboro Avenue at the Jailbusters Bonding Company. They say they received the call around 10 p.m.

Investigators say the victim was called into the business after failing to show up for a court date for which the business was held responsible for the bond. The suspect allegedly deceived the victim into coming to the business to sign some court paperwork regarding the bond. When the victim entered the business, the suspect locked the door and told the victim he was being placed under arrest. The two men began to scuffle as the victim tried to flee and the victim was shoved through the glass door of the business. The suspect allegedly fired two rounds in the victim's direction.

The victim was taken to DCH Hospital for a gunshot wound to the lower back. He received emergency surgery and is listed as in stable condition.

33-year-old James McGiboney was arrested and charged with attempted murder for the shooting. He was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and has bonded out on a $60,000 bond.
