Alabama Power is updating its numbers on customers without service following overnight storms that knocked them off the grid.
Overnight there were more than 36,000 customers statewide without service, but by 7:30 a.m. crews had the number down to 25,000.
In central Alabama, there were approximately 2,450 customers without service. Most were located in the Prattville area where 2,000 were in the dark. Alabama Power says as of 9 a.m. Prattville and nearby areas had service restored to all but 500.
Reports indicate that Montgomery has 150 people without service, along with 280 in Auburn and 110 in Selma.
Outages are widely scattered but crews are working to restore service.
