MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Nine people were shot in six different locations across Memphis in the last 24 hours.

On Saturday, a church leader near the most violent scene is calling for the community to come together.

"It's about living. It's not about dying. It's not about gang-banging. It's not about shooting. Life is precious," said Greg Askew, pastor of Jubilee Church of God in Christ.

Police say the first shooting happened at a home on Decatur Street. It left two teens in non-critical condition.

The second shooting happened 24 minutes later on Voltaire Avenue. Two people were shot; both are in non-critical condition.

The third shooting happened at a home on Pearce Street. One man is at The MED in critical condition.

Four people were shot in the fourth shooting on Stage Road at 1:57 a.m. Saturday morning. Police responded to a call in the 4400 block of Stage Road around 2 a.m. and when they arrived on the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, police found that three other men were taken by private vehicle to Methodist North. All three of those men were also shot at the Stage Road location.

All four victims were in their 20s. Police say that two of the injured men were taken from Methodist North to The MED in critical condition. Authorities do not any have suspects.

The fifth shooting happened 13 minutes later, during a fight inside Our Bar on Jackson Avenue.

Police say all the investigations are ongoing. It is unclear if any of the shootings are related.

"I still believe the answer is prayer and faith in God," said Askew. "Churches have responsibilities to interact with the community, the neighborhoods and let them know that we care as well as the Lord cares."

If you know anything about any of these shootings, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH or go to the Crime Stoppers website by clicking here: http://memphis.crimestoppersweb.com/
