ARAB, AL (WAFF) -
Try to imagine your cell phone account beinghacked. Now multiply that headache by five.
An Arab city councilman reported that hisVerizon Wireless account had been hacked, and all five of the phone numbers associatedwith that account were changed.
Trying to get that mess cleaned up has beenquite the hassle, and it serves as a warning from the Better Business Bureau.
"It's unfortunate, but most of the time you'regoing to realize someone has spoofed your number or hijacked your phone whensomeone else contacts you and says ‘I got a strange message from you,' or whenyou get a bill and see transactions you didn't incur or calls you didn't make,"said the BBB's Michele Mason.
Michele says use strong passwords, do notleave those passwords in your phone, and check your account regularly. Learn moreabout what to do if your phone becomes hacked.
