HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A state senate committee could vote Wednesday on a bill to remove state sales tax on groceries.

The Senate Finance and Taxation-Education committee meets at 10:30 a.m. in Montgomery to consider the bill.

The meeting comes after a public hearing on the bill last week.

Lawmakers who support removing the tax are trying for the 22nd year to push the bill through the legislature.

A couple of economic development issues are on the agenda for Wednesday's Madison County commission meeting.  The commission is scheduled to vote to authorize the chairman to approve a deal with Huntsville and Remington outdoor company to locate a plant here.  The commission will also get a briefing on a new Walmart that will be built in Hazel Green.

The Madison County commission president will start his day early by hosting a joint breakfast meeting with the Huntsville city council president.

That breakfast meeting will allow the leaders to talk about what they share including transportation and economic development.

The breakfast meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. at Earlyworks on Madison Street in Huntsville.
