Trojans complete Sun Belt Championships

Troy wrapped up competition at the 2014 Sun Belt Championships on Tuesday, with several Trojans posting impressive results throughout the day.

"At the end of the day we are not pleased with the point totals even though we know the youthful team has a huge upswing as we prepare for the outdoor championships," said head coach Jill Lancaster.  "We as coaches are prepared to bring these athletes to a new level for the outdoor championship."

Dallas Worth earned three points for the Trojans with a sixth place finish in the 400-meters.  She finished the race with a time of 56.83 seconds, nearly four-tenths of a second faster than her qualifying time on Monday.

Troy's 4x400-meter relay team of Worthy, Taylor McDonald, Tiffany Slater and Amiracle Watson placed fifth overall with a time of 3:55.49, a season-best.

Julia Ostendorf took 17th in the 5k with a time of 18:23.33.

Erin Woods placed 16th in the triple jump at 10.82 meters.  Alexus Cobbs and Nesha Defoe finished in 17th and 18th with leaps of 10.81 and 10.61 meters, respectively.

Aleeah Stigarll competed in the pentathlon for the Trojans, placing 13th overall.  She picked up an eighth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 10.22 meters.  She also took 10th in both the high jump and long jump at 1.52 meters and 5.04 meters, respectively.  Stigarll placed 13th in the 60-meter hurdles and the 800-meters.

Western Kentucky came out victorious in the meet, edging out Texas State for the title.
