Former administrator to pay back thousands for unauthorized checks

Posted: Updated:
LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A former Lawrence County administrator will have to pay back thousands of dollars for unauthorized checks she wrote.

Tricia Galbreath is accused of using county money to pay her company without the commission's approval.

The checks she wrote totaled $9,000 but Galbreath will only have to pay about $5,000 of the amount back due to money owed her for unpaid work and expenses.

Galbreath submitted her resignation after accusations of the checks surfaced, but the Lawrence County Commission decided to terminate her instead.

The commission has since hired a new county administrator.
