St. Jude claims 1A boys title over Parrish, 65-37

Jacob Winston scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds to lead St. Jude to a 65-37 win over Parrish on Friday in the Class 1A boys championship game.

Andrew Rogers added 18 points and eight rebounds for St. Jude (24-5), which made 23 of 47 shots (48.9 percent). St. Jude also made 15 of 16 free throws (93.8 percent).

LaDarius Brinson also had 10 points. St. Jude led 25-6 after the first quarter.

Labarrius Hill led Parrish (28-3) with 16 points. Denzell Daley had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Parrish missed all 15 3-point attempts and was 12-of-49 shooting overall (24.5 percent).      Winston was named the tournament MVP.

Rogers, Brinson and Hill joined him on the all-tournament team, along with Sacred Heart's Diante Wood and Cletrell Pope of Sunshine.

It was the second straight title for St. Jude and fourth since 2006.
