JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Arkansas agencies have been called in to help those stranded on icy roads.

Arkansas National Guard soldiers are assisting Arkansas State Police and other law enforcement to accident scenes on Interstate 40 and Interstate 55. They are also doing route assessments there.

Matt Sneed with the Arkansas National Guard said 54 soldiers are involved. A unit from Searcy has been called to the Forrest City area.

State Troopers will be checking on motorists in case of a health emergency, according to a statement from Gov. Beebe's office. Arkansas State Police is also working to clear damaged vehicles.
