TRINITY, AL (WAFF) -

Lawrence County deputies are currently investigating the death of a Trinity woman.

Sheriff Gene Mitchell said investigators are looking into the death of Angela Kaye Jones, 50, of County Road 316 in Trinity. Sheriff Mitchell said Jones was found dead Monday morning from a single gunshot wound, but she was shot Sunday night.

Sheriff Mitchell said authorities are in the early stages of the investigation, and there has been no ruling on the nature of the death.

Investigators are reportedly working with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in order to clear up unanswered questions. Sheriff Mitchell said he hopes the investigators will have a clearer understanding of the circumstances of the death soon.
