WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

A 14-year-old Wetumpka girl is home, safe with her family after authorities say she disappeared over the weekend with a Texas man.

Wetumpka police say the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Christon Stephens, was arrested and charged with solicitation and multiple sex charges against the girl, who is not being identified.

"We just pray Lord we want another chance to be better parents and we want her to have another chance. 14 years is not long enough," the girl's father, Daniel Grecu, said. "We just want to be better parents and show more love and show her the love of God and love her more and keep her close and love her forever."

Officials were notified of the girl's disappearance Saturday. The girl was initially listed as a "runaway", but after investigators learned she'd was in the company of an adult, her status was upgraded to "missing and endangered".

Multiple law enforcement agencies were brought into the investigation and the two were found Tuesday walking along U.S. Hwy. 231 in Wetumpka.

"We really appreciate the cooperation we got from the agencies and glad the young lady was returned home safely to the parents," Deputy Chief Anthony Crenshaw said.

The girl was returned to her family and Stephens was taken into custody.

"You just want to hug her one more time, and you just say "God, please one more time let me hug her and hold her"," explains the teen's mother, Dorina Grecu.

Authorities say Stephens met the girl after talking to her through an online social network. He hitchhiked to Alabama to meet her.

"We are looking at the mistakes we made," Daniel Grecu, explained. "You need to know who they are talking to on Facebook, what their passwords are. That's a must as parents. If you give them freedom now, you can put them in harms way, that's obvious now," Grecu added.

Stephens is being charged with 3 counts of Rape 1st degree, 4 counts of Sodomy 1st degree, Electronic Solicitation of a Child by Computer, Furnishing Narcotics to a Minor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in the Elmore County Jail with a combined bond amount of $136,000.
