The American Bandmasters Association 80th Annual Convention comes to Montgomery's Renaissance Hotel, MPAC and Convention Center.
The American Bandmasters Association, North America's most prestigious organization
for band conductors, will arrive this week in Montgomery for their 80th Annual Convention.
Hosted by Troy University, the March 4th - 9th event will bring musicians from
across the United States and Canada to the Renaissance Hotel, Convention Center
and Montgomery Performing Arts Center.
The convention will feature noted concert bands from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and
South Carolina as well as the United States Air Force Band from Washington DC. Beginning
Wednesday evening, the convention will include concert performances by:
Troy University Symphony Band - Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30PM
University of Alabama Wind Ensemble - Wednesday, March 5 at 8:30PM
Buchholz High School Wind Symphony - Thursday, March 6 at 2:00PM
Reinhardt University Wind Ensemble - Thursday, March 6 at 7:30PM
University of South Carolina Wind Ensemble - Thursday, March 6 at 8:30PM
United State Air Force Band - Friday, March 7 at 7:30PM
Concert performances are free and open to the public.
The American Bandmasters Association, founded in 1929, with John Philip Sousa as
Honorary Life President, recognizes outstanding achievement on the part of Concert
Band conductors and composers. The current membership (invitational) comprises approximately
300 band conductors and composers in the USA and Canada, and 80 Associate
Members (music businesses and corporations that provide significant services
to bands and to the publication of band music.)
