MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery Public Schools hosted the first ever Career Extravaganza Thursday, to introduce 8th grade students and their parents to MTEC's Technical programs.

This event introduced those programs which lead to well paying, high demand careers in things like building science and construction, electrical technology, welding and metal fabrication, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and advertising design and mechatronics.

Students were transported from their zoned school to MTEC for a tour, which included a variety of hands-on activities and interactive presentations, robotic demonstrations and simulators. They also had the chance to talk to current MTEC students and teachers.

MTEC is currently accepting applications for the 2014-2015 school term, which will be taken onsite. Applications are available for download on the district website at preparingstudentsforlife.com under the For Parents, and For Students tabs. For more information about MTEC Open House call (334) 241-5307.
