ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) -

The president of Enterprise State Community College, Dr. Nancy Chandler, is tendering her resignation.

Dr. Mark Heinrich, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, confirmed President Chandler's resignation, saying it was effective June 1, 2014.

Dr. Chandler was appointed Interim President in July 2008 and was named President in May 2009.

Chancellor Heinrich would not discuss the resignation in detail because personnel issues are confidential. However, he would say that she "has resigned in good standing and she will continue on administrative leave until her resignation date."

"Dr. Chandler has been a part of the Alabama Community College System for over 25
years. I am grateful for Dr. Chandler's service to our system," said Chancellor
Heinrich.

The chancellor met Wednesday with ESCC employees to discuss the resignation, and said he would be taking over the college's administration until a replacement is found.
