MPD holds graduation ceremony for newest officers

The Montgomery Police Department held a graduation ceremony on Thursday to introduce the newest officers into the force.

There were 14 new officers who graduated after completing 22 weeks of training at the Montgomery Police Academy. Two of the graduates were presented their badges by their mothers who are also officers. One of the graduates was Ashlyn Hayes whose mother, Lt. Tonya Thompson, is the executive officer for Mayor Todd Strange. There was also a set of twins who graduated in the ceremony.

Police Chief A. C. Roper of Birmingham delivered the graduation address, and Montgomery Presiding Judge, Les Hayes, administered the Oath of Office.
