OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) -

Opelika police confirm a man was injured in an officer-involved shooting on Interstate 85 Thursday night.

Capt. Bruce DeLong says an officer made contact with a vehicle that was reportedly driving extremely slow on I-85 northbound near mile marker 63 at approximately 7:12 p.m.

Officials haven't released many details but said at some point an individual in the vehicle was shot.

The man in the vehicle was transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Details on his condition weren't immediately available. The officer wasn't injured.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation will be handling the investigation, according to DeLong.
