BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - A former Birmingham Police officer was sentenced Thursday to six months in prison.

Jason Arnold plead guilty to arson charges related to several house fires set in west Birmingham in 2012.

Arnold plead guilty to two counts of second degree arson. Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Clyde Jones sentenced Arnold to a split ten year sentence. Arnold will serve six months in jail and will be on probation for three years after he is released.

Prosecutors say Arnold, Anthony Weaver and another former Birmingham Police officer, Curtis
Thornton, set the fires.
