City of Montgomery honored in magazine article


The City of Montgomery, fresh off news that hard data shows its tourism economy is booming, learned Thursday it's being featured for its economic development achievements in a new magazine article.

Montgomery is being named in Southern Business & Development magazine as one of its 10 shining examples of economic developing that is working in the South.

Alabama's capital city was the state's only representative in the article [READ HERE].

"Southern Business & Development recognizes that Montgomery is an exceptional place to do business," said Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board of Directors Leslie L. Sanders. "Not only is the River Region unique in what it has to offer, our city, county, state and chamber leadership also work together extraordinarily well to enhance our quality of life. The results of their efforts have made and will continue to make this community appealing to new and existing industries."

The magazine praised the city's economic diversity with the city secured the headquarters of national pharmaceutical service company Mims Management Group, the first Alabama facility of global automotive supplier DENSO Corp., a Department of Defense Core Data Center, and a corporate and operation center of Hancock Bank.

It didn't hurt that Montgomery boasts homes to Maxwell Air Force Base and Air University, as well as Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and, LAMP, the No. 1 magnet high school in the United States.
