Uber, a smartphone car service app, has arrived in Cincinnati.

Uber allows its users to register a credit card on file and use the app to find the closest driver available.

The driver sends a confirmation that they're on their way along with their name, photo, car type and rating.

The app is free to download and available for ages 18 and older.

To get Cincinnati excited for this new service, Uber is offering two weeks of free rides.

Uber's Ohio General Manager James Ondrey says, "We are super pumped about bringing Uber to Cincinnati and giving people a whole new way to move around their city.  Not only will Uber connect riders with the most stylish, convenient, and reliable transportation in town, but we will also expand economic opportunities for our driver partner."

Uber will be offering Cincinnati their stylish UberBLACK cars and their more affordable option, UberX.

A few pros and cons:

Pro:  Fast service  Uber prides itself on their speedy customer service. You no longer have to sit on the phone waiting for a cab service operator to answer.

Con: Technical issues – With any smartphone app comes a few glitches. Many users have reported errors.  It could be difficult for the driver to find you if the app can't track your GPS.

Pro: Reasonable pricing – What makes Uber so great is that the price of luxury travel has been lowered. You can track exactly how much the ride will cost depending on your location.

Con: No scheduling – As of now, users are unable to schedule a car far in advance because the app has no calendar. You'll have to use the app in the present moment!

So will Uber soon become a major competitor in Cincinnati's transportation market? We'll just have to wait and see!
