SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

One man is recovering after being shot near downtown Shreveport late Saturday night.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1300 block of Louisiana Avenue around 10 p.m.  They found Sidney Willis, 48, suffering from a gunshot wound to his right forearm.  He also had what appeared to be grazing wounds to this chest and thigh, police said.

He was transported to University Health with what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Willis told detectives that he was walking on Fairfield Avenue near Common Street when a black man wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt approached him.  Willis says he began cursing and started firing shots at him.  Willis claims he did not know the gunman, police said.

Crime scene investigators were unable to find a crime scene and are working to identify the suspect in this case.
