Fire heavily damages Shreveport home

Posted: Updated:

Fire heavily damaged a house in Shreveport Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 2815 Milam Street at 1:18 p.m.

When fire personnel arrived on scene, they saw smoke and flames pouring from the brick and wood frame house.  The flames spread quickly into the attic and caused heavy damage.  The home had several renovations with more than one attic space which made it difficult to bring the fire under control, firefighters said.

An additional engine company was dispatched to the location to help put the fire out.  It was tapped out at 2:05 p.m.

Three adults were in the home at the time of the fire but all made it out safely.

Where the fire started and how is still under investigation.
