PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. says his police officers are stepping up patrols around the old cotton gin in downtown.

The increased patrols are in response to trespassing on the property in which a man fell through a skylight at the Daniel Pratt historic cotton gin.

The man, unidentified, was critically injured Saturday around 10 p.m. His condition has not been updated to date.

The incident involved three males who illegally entered the cotton gin. The 21-year-old male who fell was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The two other individuals involved, a 16-year-old and 22-year-old, were charged with criminal trespassing.

The 16-year-old was released to his parents.

The 22-year-old was taken to jail.

The officers will increase the number of times per day that they drive around the property, and will utilize a nearby vacant parking lot to keep watch so no one else trespasses.
