Facebook briefly deletes actor John Schneider

Actor John Schneider Actor John Schneider
CLAXTON, GA (WTOC) -

Fans recognize TV star John Schneider all the time.

To some, he's still Bo Duke from "The Dukes of Hazzard". To others, he's Clark Kent's father from Smallville.

To an emerging fan base, he's a treacherous Savannah judge. For whatever favorite character, thousands stood in line Saturday to get an autograph or picture.

But Facebook wasn't as starry-eyed Thursday when Schneider, star of the current "The Have's and Have Not's", asked to join a fan group entitled "ADDICTS of The Haves and Have Nots." Under his own name.

"Facebook arbitrarily decided I was not me," the star said Saturday. "It suddenly deleted about 10 pages I have, for "Have's and Have Not's", for "Dukes", for weight loss, for my production company. They just decided it wasn't me."

Schneider blogged Friday about the ordeal and his attempts to convince the social media giant that he was, well, him. His blog can be found at www.thejohnschneider.com.

By Monday, Schneider blogged that he'd received a message from Facebook that the deletion was accidental and his account and pages were restored.

That includes his membership in the "ADDICTED..." page.

Schneider was in Claxton, GA, taking part in the 47th annual Rattlesnake and Wildlife Festival.
