DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur man was arrested after a police chase ended in a crash and an attempt to hide on Saturday.

Police said the driver sped off during a traffic stop on the 100 block of Austinville Road and the officer followed. The driver reportedly lost control of the car and crashed into a privacy fence on Betty Street.

Decatur police said the driver, Richard Eubanks, got out of the car and tried to run. They said he threw away a bag with items used to make meth. Officers found him hiding under a car in someone's driveway.

Police arrested Eubanks and his passenger, Jennifer Keenum, who police said also tried to hide.

Eubanks was arrested and charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, attempting to flee and elude, resisting arrest, open container, driving while revoked, switched tag and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police said Eubanks also has outstanding warrants in Decatur for a probation violation and failure to appear in court. He was booked into Decatur City Jail. Police said once he satisfies his warrants through the City of Decatur, he will be transferred to Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $6,000 bond.

Keenum was charged with criminal trespassing. She was booked into Decatur City Jail.
