HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Less than a month after gun manufacturer Remington announced a multi-million-dollar project in Huntsville, company officials fended off rumors that it is about to be sold.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a company called Global Digital Solutions has made a $1.08 billion offer to buy Remington Outdoor Company.

Madison County commissioners said they have spoken to the company. Remington officials confirmed the offer was made, but said they have no intention of accepting it.

Remington is preparing to open a new facility in Huntsville by 2016, with the expectation of 2,000 jobs to be brought to the Rocket City within a decade of opening.
