BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
A Jackson-Olin High School staff member and police say the lockdown at the school has been lifted.
The Birmingham Police Department put the high school on lockdown around 9:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that a gun was on campus. They say nothing was found.
During the lockdown, officers spread out across the school to search and also interviewed students.
Parents who came to the school during the search said they were concerned and upset. Many wanted to check their children out of school. According to them, students texted them updates from inside the school.
Parents who spoke with FOX6 News say they have security concerns they want to bring up at the next Birmingham School System BOE meeting.
According to students, a student clad in army gear allegedly brought the gun to school. Police have not commented on this statement.
