CHILTON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A Chilton County volunteer firefighter is accused of sexually abusing a minor.

Clint Morgan Burnett, 22, faces three counts of sodomy and one count of sex abuse of a child less than 12 years old. The victim is a young male and the allegations stem from September 2011.

Burnett was a volunteer firefighter with the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department. Authorities say some of the alleged acts happened at the fire department.

Burnett was arrested on Feb. 27 and is now free on bond.

The Chilton County District Attorney's Office did not comment on whether or not Burnett had a prior record.

Allan Rice, executive director of the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards, said volunteer firefighters are not required to have a background check. He says certified firefighters must sign an affidavit saying they've never been charged, and departments will only do a thorough background check if something comes up.

Chilton Co. Chief Deputy District Attorney C.J. Robinson said anyone with information about the case is asked to contact authorities.
