OXFORD, AL (WBRC) -

Oxford Police announced Friday that they have arrested and charged a suspect in a 17-year-old cold case.

Jack David Stovall is charged with capital murder in the 1997 disappearance of Floyd Roger Hurst. Stovall is being held at the Cleburne County jail on no bond.

Investigators say Stovall has been a person of interest in the case for the last 17 years. They say that Stovall and Hurst had a working relationship. Stovall had a connection to the Red Horse Lounge, the place Hurst never made it to the day he disappeared in January 1997.

Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge says his team has made an important break in the case but the investigation is ongoing.
