NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro officer was reportedly almost run over this weekend while heading to a 911 call.

The officer was called to an apartment complex off Hillsboro Road after a woman called 911 pleading for help, saying her boyfriend had beat her up and had just left the apartment.

The officer went to look for the man in the parking lot.

He says he spotted the woman's boyfriend, Owen Meston, inside of a car and tried to stop him.

That's when police say Meston tried to run over the officer with the car.

The officer was able to get away.

Meston was arrested and is facing charges for assaulting an officer, DUI and vandalism.
