HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A woman was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Huntsville Wednesday evening.

Police responded just before 6 p.m. to an apartment complex on the 200 block of Binford Drive. When officers arrived they found the victim in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police arrested Viola Jones, 22, in connection with the shooting and charged her with assault. Investigators said they found a gun they believe was used in the crime.

Huntsville Police said she shot 19-year-old Leslie Garner multiple times in the apartment complex, where they both live. Police said Garner suffered life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital.

Friends of Garner said that there has been a running dispute between her and the alleged shooter and that one alleged fight was recorded and posted to YouTube. They said they were told Garner has been awake and talking throughout the day Thursday.

"Words have been said; things have been thrown," said Kaneshya Jones, one of Garner's friends. "It's just never gotten this deep to where people has gotten shot. It's always been fighting. They brought six girls over to jump Leslie. They didn't know I was here. If I wasn't here, my friend would have gotten jumped that night because she brought them over to fight her."

Jones was out on bond for a prior incident involving a gun. She is accused of forcefully entering a woman's home last Halloween while armed with a .380-caliber pistol. She is charged with first-degree burglary in that case, which is due to go before a Madison County grand jury.

Jones is being held in the Madison County Metro Jail on $10,000 bond in connection to Wednesday's shooting.
