Streets reopen after police, bomb squad investigate unattended briefcase

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A police investigation of a suspicious briefcase closed some streets in Sierra Vista.

Police say the briefcase was left unattended at the intersection of Avenida Cochise and Oakmont.

The Sierra Vista Police Department and members from the Cochise County Sheriff's Office bomb squad investigating the contents of briefcase by x-ray and determined it was not considered a danger.

"We err onthe side of caution when public safety is a concern," says Scott Borgstadt,Sierra Vista Police corporal and community resource officer. "We were fortunatethat this turned out to be a false alarm."

The streets reopened around 2:30 p.m.
