MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

In light of the nine-alarm fire in Boston this week that claimed the lives of two brave fire fighters and the tragic story in Decatur, Alabama also this week of the two preschool children killed in an apartment fire, I thought it appropriate to acknowledge the brave men and women that put their lives on the line to protect others.

These professionals devote their lives to serve and save others in time of need.  Some, as in the case of the Boston fire, sacrificed their own lives in service; and in Decatur, were there to perform the heart wrenching job of removing the young deceased.

This is service to others that some cannot even comprehend, but is done so willingly everyday by thousands of fire fighters and volunteer fire fighters all over our state and country. We salute you all for what you are willing to do and the honor you bring to your station, your community and this country.
