BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Regions Field has added a little more color to their ballpark just in time for their new season.

Thursday night, the "Birmingham" sign was lit up with help from Birmingham Mayor William Bell. The LED sign sits outside the home of the Birmingham Barons.

There will be plenty of opportunities to see the sign in person this season.

The Barons are hosting an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox at 6 p.m. Friday, March 28. Regions Field will open at 4 p.m. Friday. The exhibition game is sold out, making it the 7th sold-out game in Regions Field's history.

The heavy rain across the state is expected to clear out around noon on Friday, and it looks like it will be mostly dry through the evening hours when the Barons will be playing. The rain will likely return around midnight and continue through mid-day Saturday.

The Barons' regular season begins April 9. You can find tickets and more information at www.barons.com.
