Birmingham, AL – You've filled out your NCAA bracket but did you know there's a whole different bracket that will get your taste buds moving?  For the second year Alabama Tourism is holding a BBQ bracket competition.

"Basically we're going up against a lot of other great bbq restaurants in the state of Alabama. Best pork, best ribs, best chicken, best sauce," said General Manager of Jim 'N Nick's, Brandon Barbee.

Barbee is hoping to take home the trophy once again this year.  But he has some stiff competiton.  16 restaurants from across the state are vying for  Alabama's Ultimate Barbecue Champion.

"It's nice to see what other people think of your produc," said Full Moon General Manager, Chris Bartlett

Bartlett said the recognition alone is worth it even if his restaurant doesnt' take home the trophy.  Because of the contest Bartlett said he's already seen new customers.

"We've actually had a few customers comein that had never been here but they saw our name on the bbq bracket so that was great," said Bartlett. Voting started March 17th on Alabama Food's Facebook page.

Just like a basketball bracket wins or votes in this case move a restuarnat to the next round.

Barbee said, "we didn't realize we had so many friends on Facebook and people who supported us."

Of course every restaurant wants to take home the honors of the best but the game itself is just as rewarding.

"We are all competetors but we strive to make the best product we can. It's nice to see everyone has fun with the bracket so it's cool to see your name up there on the bracket and see who can advance," said Bartlett.
