BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Birmingham City Council will be taking on two possible renovations in Tuesday's meeting.

First off, the city council will vote on the idea of renovating councilors' offices at city hall. The council will consider a contract for $76,000 to do a 3-d model of the existing space and a survey of council staff on what they want the new space to look like when it is finished.

Also on Tuesday, the council will decide whether to continue supporting the renovation of the Pizitz Building downtown across from the McWane Center.

Bayer Properties has been trying for a couple of years now to redevelop the abandoned department store building with a couple of false starts. Their new plan calls for 143 apartments plus retail and office space. The developer is asking the city for up to $1.9-million in incentives and up to $3.2-million in loans to make the project happen.
